The Tenth Annual Dighton Arts Festival will be held on Sunday, November 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Araujo Farms and Greenhouses, 1522 Williams Street, Dighton. The festival is sponsored by the Dighton Lions Club.

Registration for exhibitor spaces is now open. Exhibit spaces have sold out by early October in recent years.

Fine artists and artisans will exhibit, demonstrate their art, and offer their work for sale. Paintings, pottery, photography, jewelry, and wood carvings are among the many offerings expected at this year’s event. The festival will include wood-turning, blacksmithing, and corn-grinding demonstrations as well as an exhibit by the New England Antique Tractor and Truck Association.

The Festival Music Committee will continue its tradition of showcasing musical talent of many area young people including the Dighton-Rehoboth Marching Band. More information on performers and schedule will be posted on the festival web site (dightonart.org).

Bob Mullen, co-leader of the festival for the Dighton Lions Club, said “We are proud to offer this festival because it not only raises funds for the Lions Club charities but also it fosters an appreciation for the arts in our community, Children are an important part of our community so we have included activities that help to build an appreciation for the arts among children. And, as always, we are grateful to the Araujo family for opening their greenhouses and for their continuing support of the arts. We couldn’t do this without them.”

Carl Stonstrom, festival co-founder and co-leader, praised the Festival Planning Committee, Araujo Farms, and other volunteers for their commitment to the festival’s success. “An event of this size is successful because so many people contribute countless hours to making it work as an annual celebration of the arts in our town” said Stonstrom. He added that “the festival started in 2005 in the Lions Club Pavilion behind Dighton Town Hall and has grown both in the number or exhibitors and visitors each year since moving to the greenhouses at Araujo Farms”.

Children’s art will be featured in the Emerging Artists Gallery where festival visitors can view artwork submitted by local school children.

Wine tasting will be a returning festival feature this year in the afternoon.

General questions about the festival can be directed to Bob Mullen at 508-669-6469.
