Seventh Annual Dighton Arts Festival | November 6, 2011

Nov 6 2011 - 10:00am
Nov 6 2011 - 4:00pm

The Seventh Annual Dighton Arts Festival will be held on Sunday, November 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Araujo Farms and Greenhouses, 1522 Williams Street, Dighton. The festival is sponsored by the Dighton Lions Club.

Fine artists and artisans will exhibit, demonstrate their art, and offer their work for sale. Paintings, sculpture, textiles, jewelry, wood carvings, photography, and mosaics are among the many offerings expected at this year’s event.

Several musical artists from the area will perform contemporary and traditional folk music throughout the day. The Music Committee has another great lineup of entertainment planned this year including performances by many favorites from past years. More information on performers and schedule will be coming soon.

Bob Mullen, co-leader of the festival for the Dighton Lions Club, said “We are delighted, in our seventh year, to have more exhibitors than ever and an exciting music program with well-known performers. We believe this festival is special because it promotes an appreciation for the arts in the community and spotlights local artists. Children are an important part of our community so we have included activities that help to build an appreciation for the arts among children. And, as always, we are grateful to the Araujo family for opening their greenhouses and for their continuing support of the arts. We couldn’t do this without them.”

Children’s art will be featured in the Emerging Artists Gallery where festival visitors can view artwork submitted by local school children. Sarah and Hannah Manuels will return again this year at the face-painting booth.

Wine tasting will be a returning festival feature this year from 12:30 to 3:30.

The Exhibitor Registration Form and Information for Exhibitors can be downloaded below or requested by sending an e-mail to info@dightonart.org. Registration forms are also available at Araujo Farms and Greenhouses.

Photo Safaris

What is a Photo Safari
A photo safari is an event sponsored and organized by the Dighton Art Association. It is an opportunity for photographers to get together in a new and fun environment to boost their creativity, learn more about the art of photography, and have fun experimenting with their equippment and techniques in a relaxed and inspirational atmosphere.

Our Safari in June was to an estate property here in Dighton.

Coming this summer .... a guided photo canoe/kayak trip with Canoe Passage Outfitters of Taunton and Warren, RI. Still working on the details of this trip. They have one scheduled for July 8th out of Warren for $65.00 so that might be the one.

Here's the description of the photo canoe/kayak trip:
The Narragansett Bay and its adjacent rivers are places of great beauty with an abundance of nature. Spend a day developing your own passion and talent in an introductory class taking spectacular photos of this unmatched splendor. Capture images of hawks, great blue herons, Canada geese, osprey, red wing black birds, yellow warblers, ducks and other wildlife. Read more at their website.

Sounds great! I'm holding the date!
